In a report to the council,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Community Development Director Kurt Anderson noted that city code currently does not regulate colors when the Planning Department reviews plans for new structures.
Owners of commercial, office or industrial buildings in Norwalk have received a warning from the city council: don’t even think about painting your structures orange and black for Halloween or even red and green for Christmas.
“As a result,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a variety of colors have been observed [in the city]. ranging from common earth tones to bright and metallic shades,” he said.
Also some companies have specific colors for their stores, she added.
A survey of surrounding cities indicates that some allow developers to choose a variety of colors as part of the building permit process while others provide a specific palette, usually pastel shades,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], from which to choose.
Although city staff has the go-ahead to compile an ordinance, council members indicated they would review it carefully.
